James Murphy, President

In 2009, James Murphy started his career on Capitol Hill working for Senator Susan Collins on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee (HSGAC). In that role, he contributed to numerous pieces of legislation and oversight reports. He was also responsible for assisting constituents with grant applications. In 2012, James transitioned to a senior position in the US House of Representatives and eventually the US House Committee on Homeland Security (CHS). As Director of Member Services & Coalitions, he was responsible for educating Members of Congress on committee priorities and interfacing with the private sector on pending legislation. In the 113th Congress, his efforts were crucial to enacting 11 new public laws. During his career on Capitol Hill, he had the unique experience of serving in personal and committee offices in both chambers, which cemented his ability to navigate any political landscape. In 2015, James joined the private sector as an in-house lobbyist for Motorola Solutions. He was responsible for appropriations & federal funding, technology policy, emergency communications, public safety, and security. In January 2019, James left his job as an in-house lobbyist to launch Daybreak Strategies. 

 

James and his wife live in Washington, DC. He enjoys hiking, camping, mountain biking, and classic cars.
